In order to enjoy shopping in abroad it is useful to keep in mind a couple of things witch can help in case of conflict situation with goods seller or service provider.

  • Always keep a purchasing cheque since it is a document, which confirms contractual liabilities between you and a seller.
  • Make sure that the chosen article has all functions and features to serve your required goals and intentions.
  • Chose the best price offer.
  • If a price of an article is uncharacteristically low for the particular group of goods, be careful and find out the reasons.
  • Be attentive – if a price of an article is reduced for some already existent defect, such information should be clearly indicated when purchasing the article.
  • When buying clothes and footwear in Europe remember that in some EU countries size numbers might differ.
  • If a trader or manufacturer gives a guarantee, it means that you are granted some additional possibility apart from the legal rights within two years to turn with your claims statement to the seller. Carefully learn the conditions and additional possibilities of the offered guarantee.
  • Turn attention to whether a guarantee offered by a manufacturer is of European scale. Only in this case repair of goods in the case of need will be performed also at the company’s dealer in your home country.

If it turns out that the purchased goods or services do not comply with provisions of the contract:

  • Ii is important to know that in accordance with the laws and regulations of the EU a consumer has the right to lodge a complaint within two years form the purchase day. A trader or manufacturer has no right to shorten this term.
  • First contact the trader and try to solve the problem.
  • If the trader does not react to your oral complaint, submit a written statement.
  • In order to present a claim about purchased goods or services you should keep documents confirming the purchase – a purchase cheque, contract etc.
